On January 31, GAC Group (601238) issued a public announcement: The Company deliberated and approved the “Proposal on the Southern (Shaoguan) Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicle Test and Detection Center Project”. The project covers an area of about 8,600 mu(573 hectares) and has a total investment of about 2.1517 billion yuan. It will be implemented in two phases with the first-phase investment of 1.72435 billion yuan.

　　On the same day, GAC signed a memorandum of cooperation with Shaoguan City and Xinfeng County in Guangdong Province at GAC Center, under which GAC and Shaoguan Municipal Government reached an agreement to build an open and comprehensive automobile test center (tentatively named “Southern (Shaoguan) Intelligent and Connected New Energy Vehicle Test and Detection Center") featuring new energy, intelligent connection and driverless test in Xinfeng County, Shaoguan City. The project is positioned as the world's leading and China's first open and comprehensive test center that covers traditional vehicles and new energy intelligent connected and driverless test vehicles. As an important supporting infrastructure for R & D and testing of new energy vehicles in the 13th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Strategic Emerging Industries in Guangdong Province, the Test Center will be built into an open public service platform for all vehicle manufacturing enterprises and key parts manufacturing enterprises in Guangdong Province, other southern provinces and even the whole country.
